Leasing and buying suit different lifestyles. Here's how to choose what's right for you.

## Leasing vs. buying compared

**Leasing:** You rent a vehicle for 2-4 years. Monthly payments are often lower than loan payments. You get a new car with warranty coverage and minimal maintenance costs. But mileage is limited (typically 10,000-15,000 miles/year), wear-and-tear charges apply, and you build no equity.

**Buying:** You own the vehicle outright or finance it. Monthly payments are higher, but you keep the car forever, drive unlimited miles, and customize as you wish. You pay for maintenance and repairs after warranty expires, but you build equity.

## How to decide

**Choose leasing if:** You like new cars every few years, drive under 15,000 miles/year, prefer predictable costs, and don't want repair surprises.

**Choose buying if:** You plan to keep the car long-term, drive high mileage, want no restrictions, and value ownership.

**Budget:** Calculate true cost: lease (payment + insurance + fuel) vs. buy (payment + insurance + fuel + maintenance + repairs). Both can make sense financially.
