Your tires are your car's only contact with the road-proper care ensures safety, fuel efficiency, and longer tire life.

**Tire rotation:**

Rotate your tires every 5,000-7,000 miles (or every other oil change). This distributes wear evenly, extends tire life, and improves handling. Front tires wear faster due to steering and braking forces, so rotation prevents premature replacement.

**Tire replacement signs:**

- **Tread depth** - Tires are unsafe when tread reaches 2/32 inch. Use the penny test: insert a penny (Lincoln's head down) into the tread; if you see the top of his head, it's time to replace.
- **Age** - Tires degrade over time; replace them after 6-10 years regardless of tread.
- **Damage** - Bulges, cracks, punctures, or sidewall damage require immediate replacement.
- **Vibration or noise** - Could signal wear, alignment issues, or a flat.

**Why it matters:**

Worn tires reduce grip, increase stopping distance, and raise accident risk-especially in rain or snow.

**At Castle Volkswagen of Schaumburg,** our service team can inspect your tires, recommend rotation or replacement, and install genuine Volkswagen tires if needed.
